Under-stairs & Eaves Storage
Those awkward spaces in our houses - in the eaves of a loft extension, or under the stairs - strange shapes and annoying angles make them impossible to fill with off-the-peg storage. What you need is cleverly designed, fabulously thought-out solutions to maximise use of the space and allow you easy access to the deepest recesses of those neglected corners.
Cupboard of doom begone!
Take this drawer of drawers, for example. The whole thing pulls out to a depth of 750mm, allowing access to three small drawers, a space to the right for a kitchen mixer, and a spice rack on top. You don’t get that from Ikea.
Another big old shoe rack under another staircase. There’s a bit more room in this one for big boots and whatnot. The dark green is a lovely contrast to the warm light tones of the birch plywood.
We even found space for a pull-out wine rack in this cupboard. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure it was big enough but on the other hand, the less you can store the less you can drink. Is that a good thing? Depends on how long the week’s been….
Drawers are always the best way to provide access to those tricky spaces - and lots of ‘em. As everything we make is fully bespoke, it means that you can eke out as much of that vital room as possible. Better still, you no longer need to be on your hands and knees, dragging out disintegrating boxes and banging your head in the process.
You can make use of the weirdest spaces if you think hard enough. This eaves wardrobe used 1400mm heavy duty runners to allow easy access to an awkward area created by the stairs in a loft extension. A pull-out shoe rack worthy of Imelda Marcos (that’s right Bash, keep your cultural references up to date), and a pull-out hanging rail that could only be tested by repeatedly pushing and pulling oneself in and out of the wardrobe on the base. We build these strong, to last. Also it was lots of fun, let’s not forget the importance of joy.
